A Life of Purpose and Conviction
Born into a life of luxury, Jankideviji chose a path of simplicity and service, inspired by her husband Jamnalalji’s adoption of the Gandhian way of life. With dedication and conviction, she worked tirelessly for women’s upliftment, removing orthodox customs like purdah and untouchability.
A Revolutionary Spirit
Jankideviji’s commitment to social causes knew no bounds. She participated in Vinoba Bhave’s Bhoodan movement, innovated the concept of Koopdan, and undertook Padyatras, spreading the message of Gram Seva and Goseva. Her leadership and vision earned her the Padma Vibhushan in 1956.
Legacy Lives On
The Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation’s annual award in her memory recognizes outstanding contributions to women’s and children’s welfare. As we reflect on Jankideviji’s life, we are reminded of the transformative power of dedication, simplicity, and service.
