Bajaj Auto’s total production capacity surpasses 70 lakhs in FY24
Bajaj Auto, a prominent manufacturer of two and three-wheelers, has significantly expanded its production capacity over the past three years, reaching 7.11 million units by March 2024, up from 6.33 million units in March 2021. Despite a 12% increase in capacity during this period, the company reduced its workforce by approximately 12%, with employment decreasing from 10,052 to 8,826 employees by March 2024. The expansion was driven by growth in the electric vehicle segment, increasing its capacity from 120,000 units to 480,000 units annually. The Waluj plant saw its capacity rise from 2.4 million to 2.7 million units per year, focusing on models like Boxer, CT, Platina, Discover, and Pulsar motorcycles. Bajaj Auto remains strategically involved in both the premium 125cc and above motorcycle market, while also maintaining a presence in the entry-level bike segment (100cc-110cc), which constitutes 49% of the motorcycle market.
