Bajaj Auto launches world’s first CNG motorcycle named Freedom with ‘Bajaj ki Guarantee’
Bajaj Auto introduced the ‘Freedom 125’, the world’s first CNG motorcycle, on Friday, marking a pivotal moment for the company. Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj hailed it as a transformative day, reflecting on their pioneering journey that began 25 years ago with India’s first CNG three-wheeler.
The new motorcycle features both a CNG tank and a conventional fuel tank, along with distinctive elements such as a round LED headlight, an elongated seat, and a toggle switch for switching between petrol and CNG. Bajaj emphasized its spacious seat, jokingly suggesting its potential for accommodating multiple riders legally.
Assuring customers of comprehensive support, Bajaj branded it as “Bajaj ki Guarantee”, promising ongoing assistance throughout the motorcycle’s lifecycle
According to Bajaj, the introduction of the CNG motorcycle signifies a breakthrough in reducing dependency on petroleum imports and mitigating high fuel costs and range anxiety. At the launch event, he honoured his father, Rahul Bajaj, for his visionary leadership over five decades, underscoring his commitment to a self-reliant India and sustainable practices.
Praising the quality and research invested in Bajaj Auto’s CNG-powered Freedom 125, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Roads, highlighted its potential as the preferred choice for two-wheelers internationally due to significant cost savings. The CNG bike will be priced between Rs 95,000 and Rs 1.10 lakh, offering a range of 330 kilometres. It features a 2-kilogram CNG tank alongside a 2-liter petrol tank.
The launch is poised to revolutionize the market by potentially inspiring similar technologies across other models, promising substantial fuel cost savings and emissions reductions, crucial concerns for two-wheeler owners in India’s pollution-prone cities.
With this initiative, Bajaj Auto sets a new benchmark in the motorcycle industry, offering a sustainable and economical alternative to traditional fuel options.
